wedding reception flower arrangements

There are many decisions for a bride to make.  Apart from their own outfit, the bridesmaids outfit and the pageboys’ attire, there are the flowers to consider.  Most people think of the bride’s big decision being the bridal bouquets, but there are also the wedding reception flower arrangements to consider.  Usually there will be a theme with the flowers and the bouquet will somehow link in with the other wedding reception flower arrangements.

So what do you need to make decisions about as a bride?  The wedding reception flower arrangements will usually include a large display at the entrance to the reception or if you are having a board with a seating plan on it, then you may find that this is a good focal point for a floral display.  Then of course there are the table displays.  The table displays are probably the most important of the wedding reception flower arrangements for two main reasons – firstly, it is the display which the guests will remember as it is the one they will be looking at the longest, and secondly, if you get them wrong, it will be the one that is talked about the most!

How can the table wedding reception flower arrangements go wrong?  Well, the obvious answer to this is getting the size wrong.  On the whole you want your guests to talk to the other people at their table; you have probably spent many hours planning who will get on with whom and who will definitely not be able to sit at the same table!  All this effort is wasted if your table wedding reception flower arrangements block the view of the guests across the table.  If you are set on having tall arrangements on the table you may want to consider having tall narrow vases which people can see around without craning their necks.  Then effectively they are looking under the main flower arrangement and are looking around the vase.  Although you may think that your displays will not be appreciated if the guests are looking under them, the display will probably be striking enough on entry into the room to be remembered.

The other option for the table is to go small and have the guests look over the flowers.  If you go for this arrangement, do not have the wedding reception flower arrangements too spread out over the table.  You must leave plenty of space for your guests to easily place the wine bottle down without getting it slightly lopsided on the sprawling leaves of your floral display; this will lead to wasted wine as it is tipped over and also to disastrous spills on expensive dresses!

The easiest of all the wedding reception flower arrangements has got to be the large displays, usually placed near the doors the seating plan.  This can pretty much be anything you want.  It does not need to particularly tie in with either the table arrangements for the bouquets as they are very much a stand alone attraction.  Guests will admire these wedding reception flower arrangements, and may use them as a conversational topic with guests they have just met, but they do not have to be strictly in the theme of the wedding as they are rarely seen against the same backdrop as the other flowers.
